Following the publication in August 2017 of the translated versions of some of Erik Gustaf Geijer’s main texts in the volume Freedom in Sweden Geijer and the book has received further attention abroad.

One of the essays in the book An Economic Dream has been reprinted in Econ Journal Watch (EJW), where also a podcast in which I and prof Daniel B Klein discuss Geijer is available. Link here: Geijer in EJW 14 (3) September 2017

An article discussing Geijer’s view on liberalism has been written by prof Daniel B Klein and me. In this article we discuss whether Geijer’s “defection” from an alleged conservative stance to liberalism in the 1830s has been misinterpreted, arguing that Geijer should rather be seen as a consequent liberal though his life, though with a focus on different aspects of the effects of an ever evolving market economy as freedom and room for individual expression was expanded. The article was published in Liberal Currents in December 2017 The Warm Liberalism of Erik Gustaf Geijer

A reprinting of Geijer’s essay on the abolition of slavery On Slavery from 1844 is forthcoming in Society Magazine and a link will be copied here.
